A Connection With The Ball
Most children arriving at Mini Stars are brand new to football. Every practice is built around one thing — time on the ball — because loving the game starts with having it at your feet.
Ages 4–6 • Reception & Year 1
Mini Stars gives children aged 4–6 a fun, positive introduction to football — building confidence, coordination and friendships while learning to love having a ball at their feet.

Most children arriving at Mini Stars are brand new to football. Every practice is built around one thing — time on the ball — because loving the game starts with having it at your feet.
We provide a structured player pathway to get them ready to play regular matches from the start of year 2, either with Star or other grassroots clubs.
Every session follows our academy syllabus — so the fun is planned, the skills build week on week, and their very first football is coached as carefully as everyone else's.
Sessions move through different activities, challenges and games so children stay involved, active and excited.
Mini Stars sessions are delivered by the same coaching team responsible for developing players throughout our academy pathway.
Nothing at Star runs above 12 players per coach — and most Mini Stars groups are 10 or fewer. At four and five, being seen and known by their coach is what makes a child want to come back.
Mini Stars graduates move into Pre Academy at age 7 — same venue, same coaches, same family. Football becomes their thing if they want it to.
Our official Nike training kit is provided as part of the joining fee so all players feel that they belong once they join.
Every session is designed to balance enjoyment, development, and challenge — helping players build confidence and improve technically.
We start with simple movement games, races and challenges.
It gets everyone moving while giving children time to settle into the environment and coaches time to welcome every player.
Each child, one ball, simple skills on repeat.
Simple touches, turns and movements that help children begin feeling comfortable with the ball at their feet.
Putting their ball mastery skills into an opposed practice.
Attacking and defending are the core of the game, and 1v1s are the best starting block for both.
Conditioned games on small pitches.
Players enjoy our conditioned games designed so they have maximum fun whilst putting their skills into real game situations.
Coaches recap what was learned and give one thing to practise at home.
The sessions all end with a recap of what they learned and pointers they can practice away from our sessions.

Absolutely yes — this is exactly who it's built for. Around half our Mini Stars arrive having never kicked a ball in their life. Our coaches start from zero and build up. First week, they'll leave smiling.
